BRIDGETON — Police are investigating whether Wednesday's fatal shooting on Spruce Street is related to another shooting earlier this week.

The fatal shooting occurred Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. on the 200 block of Spruce Street. Police were flagged down and directed toward a backyard where they found the body of 25-year-old Dehaven Jackson.

Jackson was lying face down and died from a gunshot wound. Police found shell casings nearby.

Cumberland County officials arrested 21 people in an investigation into a drug and gun trafficking ring.

Authorities are investigating the link between Jackson's death and a shooting from Tuesday on the 200 block of Pine Street. Police were dispatched there at 10:20 p.m. for reports of a person shot in the foot. They were treated at Inspira Health Center Bridgeton.

While on Pine Street, officers heard additional shots around 11:42 p.m. in the area but were unable to determine the exact location of the shooting.
