To celebrate Black History Month, Converse has released a new footwear and apparel collection, including a reimagined version of two iconic silhouettes.
Designed by Converse's Black design team, The Black Joy collection was made with the intent to encourage Black creatives to grow within their communities. Each style was inspired by the artistic roots of the Harlem Renaissance. Along with an assortment of cropped and standard-fit T-shirts, the capsule includes two new reiterations of the iconic Chuck 70 and Chuck Taylor All-Star.

The Chuck Taylor All Star took on a luxurious silhouette with a light pink suede upper. The set featured a contrasting look with a black faux leather panel hugging the sides of the lace-up closure. Completing the set was a white sole and a redone Chuck Taylor ankle patch colored in a light pink hue.

The casual footwear brand tapped six rising Black multi-hyphenates to create, shoot, and produce a campaign for the new sets. Using the city as their playground, The City Is Our Canvas was made using New York talent to highlight how history and culture is constantly being made and redefined in the Black communities of New York.
Converse is always looking for ways to provide access and opportunity to rising creatives and artists. Since 2015, the brand has donated $3.9 million to Black community organizations.
