During the brutal cryptocurrency selloff last month, volumes also tumbled -- a development that doesn’t bode well for exchanges that trade the digital tokens.
Total spot volume slumped to $1.8 trillion in January, a decline of more than 30% from the previous month, according to a report from CryptoCompare. That was the lowest turnover since the end of 2020. Even at its intra-month peak of $91 billion on Jan. 24, trading was down nearly 50% from December.

Tomorrow, we'll turn the page on what's been an extremely rough month for virtually all asset classes. The stock market has undergone its biggest correction since 2020, and cryptocurrencies have been punished even more. In a recent three-day stretch, the aggregate value of all digital currencies declined by $600 billion.
But for patient investors with a long time horizon, certain cryptocurrencies may offer excellent returns.

Breaking the 200-day moving average is not the kiss of death for U.S. stocks, which might explain why the Dow Jones Industrial Average on Jan. 24 recovered from a 1,000-point plunge and finished up for the day. The historical record does not support this bearish interpretation. The...

The future of cryptocurrency could depend on whether people focus on the artist, the label or the venue.
To envision the future of crypto, I keep trying different analytical tools. This time around the concept of relevance is focality, by which I mean the part of the system at which consumers direct their attention. Focality could determine whether crypto ushers in an era of dystopian inequality, or whether most of its benefits accrue to broader society.

Dogecoin (CCC:DOGE-USD) is continuing its summer rebound. The meme coin, which saw stunning price momentum in spring and devastating losses in May and June, is moving back up into the 30-cent valuation. Warren Buffett puts a premium on collecting behavioral data while hiring. Credit: Pete Souza
When
you analyze how we initially screen job applicants, something becomes
obvious: it is all about what the applicants have done (or said they’ve
done), instead of finding out who the people really are.
Think
about it. Looking at a resume – 80 percent of which contain misleading
statements, and 53 percent of which contain outright lies, according to ERE.net
– is little more than looking at ...

His saga is the entrepreneurial creation
myth writ large: Steve Jobs cofounded Apple in his parents’ garage in
1976, was ousted in 1985, returned to rescue it from near bankruptcy in
1997, and by the time he died, in October 2011, had built it into the
world’s most valuable company. Along the way he helped to transform
seven industries: personal computing, animated movies, music, phones,
tablet computing, retail stores, and digital publishing. He thus ...

Whenever
I am interviewing candidates for a position, I have never been afraid
to put them on the spot or test them. I don’t believe in embarrassing
them but being thorough with my questions will inevitably add a little
bit of pressure to the situation.
When I was hiring someone to
work in sales, I would sometimes ask them to sell me something right
there and then, for example their mobile phone. Whatever feature they
tried to pitch, I would say I didn't need it. Whatever angle they t...

John C. Malone is up to his same old tricks against Sirius XM.
Liberty Media, where he serves as chairman, is offering more than $10
billion to squeeze out the satellite radio company’s minority
investors. They would get a derisory 3 percent premium and perhaps
better liquidity in return for non-voting Liberty stock with inferior
prospects. Sirius shareholders should hit back.
Mr. Malone’s investment in Sirius has had a phenomenal return. In

converted to 0.076 of a Liberty stock. Current Sirius shareholders would
own 39% of Liberty. Liberty CEO Greg Maffei said in a statement, "The
combined company will have better access to capital." Liberty rose in
