Essex County narcotics detectives arrested three people, and seized multiple firearms and stockpiles of heroin and marijuana this week, authorities said.

Two men are in jail awaiting arraignment – and a 16-year-old is in the Essex County Youth House awaiting an appearance in Family Court, said Thomas Fennelly, the chief assistant Essex County prosecutor.

The arrests occurred in three separate incidents this week, authorities said.

Jason Dunell, 26, was arrested after the county’s Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at 22-24 Branford St., in Newark, Fennelly said. During the raid, detectives seized 2,600 envelopes of suspected heroin, six vials of what is believed to be cocaine, a loaded .380-caliber handgun, as well as packaging materials and narcotics paraphernalia, the prosecutor added. The heroin has a street value of more than $2,500, authorities said.

Tommy Heredia, of Newark, was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly trying to sell a pound of marijuana to an undercover police officer on Halleck Street in Newark, Fennelly said. The marijuana's street value is worth approximately $5,000, he added.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested on Friday after detectives executed a search warrant at 32 N. 19th St., in East Orange – and found a loaded assault rifle, a handgun, and a sawed-off shotgun, authorities added.

Dunell was charged with possession of heroin and cocaine, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of a firearm while committing a narcotics offense, Fennelly said. Bail was set at $150,000, and he was taken to the Essex County Jail.

Heredia was charged with distribution of marijuana and taken to Essex County Jail, the prosecutor said. Bail was set at $50,000.

The East Orange teen was charged with weapons counts.
