JERSEY CITY -- A 30-year-old Jersey City man already facing charges in Ocean and Monmouth counties has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting at a man in Jersey City on Nov. 4, 2015.

Golden Williamson, of Belmont Avenue near Monticello Avenue, is also charged with weapons offenses related to a handgun, including possession of a weapon by a felon, the criminal complaint says.

Probable cause for the charges is under seal by order of Hudson County Superior Court Judge John Young, the complaint said. Williamson faces another attempted murder charge and drug offense in Ocean and Monmouth counties, an official said.

Williamson was informed that Young had set his bail at $500,000 cash only when he made his first court appearance on the charges with his hands cuffed to a chain around his waist in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City.

In February, Williamson and two other men were charged with tampering and conspiracy to murder two witnesses who were to testify in a Jersey City murder trial.

In April, the state obtained a superseding indictment against the three men, in addition to Shuler, whose murder charge was included in the new indictment. Shuler has been incarcerated and awaiting trial for more than six years. 

At this afternoon's hearing, Hudson County Superior Court Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez said she would not disturb Williamson's bail, due to his four prior felony convictions and the fact that Young was more familiar with the case.

Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Leo Hernandez said the out-of-county charges Williamson faces will be consolidated in Hudson County. 

Williamson's next hearing in the Hudson County charges will be Jan. 5 before Hudson County Superior Court Judge Paul Depascale.
