Police investigating rapper Earl Hayes, VH1 star Stephanie Moseley’s deaths in apparent murder-suicide
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Monday, Dec. 8, that VH1 dancer Stephanie Moseley and her rapper husband Earl Hayes were found dead inside a luxury apartment complex in L.A. from a murder-suicide.
"The initial investigation revealed that 34-year-old Earl Warren Hayes shot his wife, 30-year-old Stephanie Elyse Moseley to death and then took his own life," the LAPD said in a statement released to Us Weekly. "The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced both Mr. Hayes and Ms. Moseley dead at the scene."
Hayes' alleged motive for the act, according to TMZ, was suspicion of infidelity on Moseley's part. The site reported Tuesday, Dec. 9, that Hayes supposedly went into a jealous rage over the Hit the Floor dancer's alleged affair with Trey Songz.
Without addressing the reports, the "Heart Attack" singer, 30, simply took to his Twitter on Monday to remember the dancer.
Along with Trey, celebrities close to both Moseley and Hayes mourned the two on social media. VH1 also released a statement regarding the Hit the Floor dancer. "We are incredibly saddened to hear the news of the passing of Stephanie Moseley," the network said in a statement to Us. "VH1 and the entire Hit The Floor family send our thoughts and condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time."
At the age of 17, Moseley -- a Vancouver native -- moved to Japan to launch her career. "I've been on tour since I was a child," she told the network in a 2013 interview. Her talent as a dancer allowed her to work with numerous high-profile artists including Chris Brown, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, and Pharrell.
Moseley truly loved working with her Hit the Floor castmates, which she expressed in the same sit-down. "Everybody works out, everybody’s focused, everybody wants to do better," she gushed. "Everybody wants to be harder. It’s like this morale and this energy between all of us that is magical."
Burrel L. Wilks, a friend and "life coach" to Hayes, described the disturbing deaths of the couple as shocking in an interview with NBC's local affiliate in L.A. "I've had sit-downs with both of them so whatever happened behind those doors we'll never know," Wilks told the station. "But I heard out of her own mouth, he never raised a hand on her so this is kind of stunning."
LOS ANGELES – Married entertainers were found dead together Monday, and a famous boxer may have witnessed their violent end via an iPhone video chat.

"LAPD’s SWAT officers responded to the location and discovered two victims inside the apartment suffering from gunshot wounds," the LAPD said in a statement, according to Us Weekly. "The initial investigation revealed that 34-year-old Earl Warren Hayes shot his wife, 30-year-old Stephanie Elyse Moseley to death and then took his own life."
TMZ first reported the news of their deaths, saying neighbors could hear a woman screaming Monday morning and gunshots.
VH1 said in a statement the network was "incredibly saddened" at the news of Moseley's passing.
"VH1 and the entire ‘Hit The Floor’ family send our thoughts and condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time," rep Chris Delhomme told FOX411.
“Stephanie was exceptionally beautiful, an absolutely amazing and incredible dancer, and judging by how the other girls spoke about her, a lovely human being,” "Hit the Floor" co-star Dean Cain said. “I'm heartbroken and saddened.”
Hayes was once signed to boxer Floyd Mayweather's record label and was often seen partying with the famous boxer. TMZ reported Mayweather watched the tragedy unfold via FaceTime.
Before her VH1 series, Moseley had been a backup dancer for Chris Brown and Britney Spears among other performers.
Chris Brown instagrammed a photo in memory of the dancer with a caption, “RIP baby girl. Danced with me on tour and was always the coolest person. My prayers go out to you and HAZE family."
