      Louis Gossett Jr, who has died aged 87, was the first black man to win an Oscar for best-supporting actor after putting naval aviation cadet Richard Gere through his paces in An Officer and a Gentleman (1982); he was only the third black person to win any Oscar after Hattie McDaniel in Gone With the Wind (1939) and Sidney Poitier in Lilies of the Field (1963).

      Actor Johnny Brown, who played building superintendent Nathan Bookman on the 1970s sitcom "Good Times," has died, according to an Instagram post from his daughter, Sharon Brown.

      He was 84 and died on March 2, his daughter said.

      Moses J. Moseley, an actor who performed on shows such as “The Walking Dead,” “Watchmen” and “Queen of the South,” has died. He was 31 years old.

      Moseley’s body was discovered by authorities in Stockbridge, Ga. last week. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.

      The actor’s death was confirmed by his representation at Avery Sisters Entertainment, who offered a tribute post to Moseley on its official Facebook page.
